FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We are geared up for the little riders! We can take children from 2-9 years old on the ponies
Please fill in a booking form with all the details and Lara will be in touch!
in 2025 we decided to focus on our growing mobile events only, although you can come and see the ponies out and about at lots of venues.
We don’t expect everyone to have acres of land for the ponies to visit! Please fill in a booking form and upload a photo of the area you have in mind, and we can let you know if it is suitable. We can only offer pony rides in a secure location, so if you don’t have a suitable garden area, we recommend hiring a venue!
We always advise suitable footwear to ride the ponies, but as long as the children are comfortable and dressed for the weather, they can wear whatever they like!
After filling out the party request form, you will receive an email from Lara to confirm all the details of the visit. Please double check that everything is correct and add/change details on the return email if needed. If you would like to include photos of the area/side access, please add these as an attachment to the same email thread. Please make sure you have read all the booking notes and terms and conditions thoroughly before making a booking.
Once we have all the information needed from you for the party, we will confirm the party booking and attach a Zettle payment link to pay the deposit of £145. Please pay this immediately to secure the booking. The remainder of £150 (1 hour) or £225 (90 minutes) is due after the party.
You can request a receipt with Zettle for the payment, but there is no need to send this to us as we are notified securely when a payment is received. You will then get a confirmation email around a week before the party and another the day before. Please make sure any access or arrival information is shared at least a few days before the party, and keep all correspondence on the same email thread.
We aim to arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the party starts, and it only takes a few minutes to set up. We will message or call you if there are any unexpected delays. All party packages include 2 ponies, usually Dexter and Merla, 2 staff members, brushing the ponies, ribbons in their hair, rides around the garden or venue, and photo opportunities. You can also add our popular rosettes at £1 each, which can be handed out to children or included in party bags. Just let us know on the day and we will adjust the remaining balance accordingly.
To avoid delays on the day, please make sure there is a suitable parking space and unloading area for the ponies, the garden is clear of obstacles, and children remain in the garden until our safety briefing at the start of the party. Magic Ponies staff will greet the contact on arrival and bring through all equipment while checking for hazards. We will then bring the ponies to the area and greet the children. Staff will do a quick welcome and safety briefing before the children meet the ponies. We will spend about 10 to 15 minutes brushing the ponies and decorating them with ribbons before tacking them up for riding. Riding time may be adjusted depending on space, time, and the number of children, but we aim to ensure each rider has at least one ride on each pony if they wish. Rides finish around 10 minutes before the party ends to allow for more brushing and a group photo for smaller parties. If rosettes are included, these will be handed out at the end of the party.
To keep the ponies safe, please remove any footballs, bouncy balls, or other flying objects before they arrive as these could hit or upset them. In wet weather, umbrellas may startle the ponies, so jackets with hoods are recommended. Please keep other pets indoors to avoid upsetting the ponies. Bunting or flying decorations can also scare the ponies in windy conditions, even though they are used to them.
Yes, we will clear up any mess left by the ponies. If you would like to keep some of the finest pony poo for your roses, please let us know. We bring everything the ponies need for the day, including water and hay. Occasionally, if it has been raining in the days before the party, the ponies may leave slight hoof prints on the grass, which usually disappear after about a week.
We will still attend your party in most weather conditions unless extreme weather affects the ponies' transport. On hot days, please provide as much shade as possible using a gazebo or natural shade. On rainy or windy days, avoid outdoor decorations and gazebos as the wind can move them and potentially spook the ponies.
